Reunión formal
Cada miércoles hay un reunión formal entre todos los residentes y todos los doctores de la clínica médica incluyendo el jefe. Durante esta reunión, hay una crítica de cada paciente. Los residentes que son responsables para el paciente presentan la clínica historia, las síntomas, el estado actual del paciente, los resultados de las tareas y el plan de tratamiento. Con la presencia de todos los médicos de la clínica médica hay una oportunidad para discusión entre los médicos y los residentes para intercambiar ideas sobre la causa de las síntomas presentes en el paciente o sugerir otras cosas examinar. Esta reunión duró cerca de dos horas y después me acompañó a Carla, Cielo y Bruno, mi grupo de residentes en las visitas de sus pacientes.
Las Rotaciones
En contraste a martes, la médica que supervisa este grupo estuvo presente para monotorizar el progreso de los casos. Hoy había un paciente diferente en el asiento #17 pero Bruno ha sido le monotorizar en los días anteriores. Carla me dijo que el paciente original en el asiento #17 había sido trasladar a otro piso. Este paciente nuevo fue ingresado con una fiebre, confusión, un tos y una incapacidad a respirar. Lo había sido confirmado que el paciente que tuvo una infección respiratoria pero los residentes no había determinado si el paciente tuvo neumonía. Las visitas con los otros pacientes fueron rutinas. Los residentes y la médica aportaron ideas para determinar la causa de la condición de paciente en el asiento #4. La condición del paciente en el asiento #18 estuvo mejorando por eso la médica sugerió algunas pruebas para confirmar que el paciente fue saludable demasiado para salir el hospital.
Visitas a los otros departamentos
Radiología: los residentes y la médica discutieron los resultados del x-rayo para el paciente #17 con el radiólogo. Él dijo que el x-rayo demostró que el paciente no tuvo la neumonía
Imunología: Los residentes no había recibido los resultados del análsis del sangre para el paciente #18, por Carla le preguntó si el análasis había sido completado todavía.
Microbiología: Carla obtenó los resultados para sus pacientes; todos fueron negativos. Mientras estos resultados fueron bien para los pacientes, para los residentes un misterio existe todavía.

Formal Meeting
Every Wednesday there is a formal meeting among all of the residents and the doctors of internal medicine, including the director of the department. During this meeting there is a review of each patient. The residents that are responsible for the patient present the medical history, the symptoms, the current state of the patient, the test results and the treatment plan. With the presence of all of the doctors of internal medicine there is an opportunity for discussion among the doctors and the residents to exchange ideas about the cause of symptoms present o suggest other things to examine. This meeting lasted about 2 hours and after I accompanied Carla, Cielo and Bruno, my group of residents to their patient visits.
The Rotations
In contrast to Tuesday, the doctor that supervises this group was present to monitor the progress of the cases. Today there was a different patient in bed #17, but Bruno had been monitoring him that last couple of days. Carla told me that the original patient in bed #17 had been transferred to another floor. This new patient was transmitted with a fever, confusion, a cough and an inability to breath. It had been confirmed that the patient had a respiratory infection, but the residents hadn't determined if the patient had pneumonia. The visits with the other patients were routine. The residents and the supervising doctor brainstormed ideas in order to determine the cause of patient #4's condition. The condition of the patient in bed #18 was improving, so the doctor suggested some tests in order to confirm that the patient was healthy enough to leave the hospital.
Visits to Other Departments
Radiology: the residents and the doctor discussed the results of the lung x-ray for patient #17 with the radiologist. He said that the x-ray showed that the patient didn't have pneumonia.
Immunology: the residents hadn't received the blood test for patient #18, so Carla asked the department if the analysis had been completed yet.
Microbiology: Carla obtained the results for their patients; all of them were negative. While these results were good for the patients, for the residents a mystery still exists.
