Tres por el precio de nada
Hay muchos museos gratuitos en Córdoba y los museos que tienen una admisión son gratuitos en miércoles. Por eso, decidé visitar el museo caraffa, un museo que ha aparecido en mis fotos. Este museo del arte contiene exibiciones de los artistas argentinos modernos. Según a su página del web:
"Bajo esta dinámica, el visitante podrá encontrarse con varias muestras en simultáneo, tanto de artistas consagrados como emergentes, de nivel local como nacional e internacional. A su vez, este formato facilita que las distintas disciplinas artísticas tengan lugar durante un mismo ciclo: pintura, escultura, fotografía, grabado, dibujo, videoarte, entre otras."
En adición a mi admisión gratuita, tuve suerte porque Tulio Romano, uno de los artistas que tuvo una exibición de escultura de madera en el museo, dio una charla sobre sus obras. Fue un privilegio tener el artista presente para aprender más sobre su proceso, su inspiración y las retas que sintió durante la terminación de cada obra. Agradecí la fascinación y exploración de Romano de la forma humana.
Naturalmente me gustó Lllegada que representó un correder cruzando la línea de llegada, pero mi escultura favorita fue Arco. Mi agradecimiento de esta escultura fue aumentado cuando Roman expliqué a la audiencia que la obra representó la conexión entre los humanos y la naturaleza. ¿Puede identificar los dos maneras en que el artista demuestra esta metáfora?
Después de esta lección interesante exploré el resto del museo. Cada sala contuvo las obras de un artista diferente con estilos distintos. Había la colección Gomez en que una serie de artistas usaron el capó de un Porsche como su lienzo, una exhibición de la escultura de hierro por Néstor Candi, entre otros. Mi exhibición favorita contuvo las obras por Niccola Costantino. Sus obras combinaron dos materiales: fotografía y pintura. Pienso que la manera mejor describir su estilo es si Tim Burton fuera un pintor, entonces él sería Niccola. Similar a Burton, sus obras son caprichosas, osccuras y un poco escalofriantes.
Como estaba saliendo el museo, me di cuenta que había una proyección de la película americana "The Purlple Flower of Cairo" por Woody Allen. Me encanta las películas de Hollywood vieja, por lo tanto decidí quedarme en el mueso y ver esa película clásica. Sin dinero recibí una noche de cultura en tres formas: arte, lección y filme. La próxima semana pienso que exploraré el museo de ciencias naturales que es gratis cada miércoles.
El baile de amor: El tango
El domingo pasado subí una película en mi facebook que constituyó de bailarines del tango en la plaza. Después de esta experiencia quería tratarlo a mi misma. Mi compañera Tanya había descubierto que un estudio de baile ofrecía clases cada jueves 13:30 a 15:00. Por eso, decidimos ir a la clase antes de nuestra reunión en ICC a 16:00. Aunque he bailado por quince años, el baile clásico y jazz son muy diferente del tango. No tengo experiencia con una pareja ni tengo familiaridad en el papel como la seguidora. Fui nerviosa también porque mi compañera había tomado tres clases del tango cuando viajó a Buenos Aires el año pasado, por lo tanto había la única estudiante que no tuvo experiencia. En la duración de la clase aprendí tres pasos diferentes que pueden usado en combinación. No entiendo como una mujer puede seguir el hombre cuando hay tan muchas posibilidades de pasos que incluen los pivotes, las cruzadas de los pies y cambios en dirección y el baile es improvisado. Decididamente necesito practicar más hasta que puedo bailar con los otros en la plaza. En adición de clases del tango, el estudio tiene clases del baile clásico, jazz y comedia, por lo tanto estoy entusiasmada regresar y satisfacer mi amor de baile.
Odontología: una forma de arte todas sus propios
La creación de una corona, un implante o un puente dental es muy similar a la creación de una obra de arte. El odontólogo neceista estudiar la forma, las curvas, los puntos de contacto, el color y la textura de los dientes para crear algo artificial que aparece real. Cada artista necesita herramientas específicas para crear sus obras maestras. Casualmente, una cuadra hacia de mi departamento hay una tienda que vende suministros dentales. Llanamente, necesité investigarla. Fui como una niña en una dulcería. ¡Era un lugar mágico! Los estantes eran llenos de los guantes, las resinas, las adhesiones y todos los suministros dentales que un odontólogo necesitaría. Dije al vendedor que fue un estudiante de odontólogia de los Estados Unidos y me proveió con los catalógos con los precios de suministros y información sobre técnicas diferentes para hacer moldes dentales. No puedo esperar a leer los catalógos y comparar los materiales y los precios a los Estados Unidos. Otra vez más, arte gratuito.

Three for the Price of Nothing
There are a lot of free museums in Córdoba and museums that have an admission fee are free on Wednesdays. For this reason I decided to visit the Caraffa Museum, a museum has appeared in my photos. This art museum contains exhibits of modern Argentine artists. According to their webpage: "With this dynamic, the visitor will encounter various samples simultaneously of emerging, locally, nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. At the same time, this format facilitates the different artistic disciplines to take place during the same time: painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, drawing, videoart, among others. In addition to my free admission, I was fortunate because Tulio Romano, one of the artists that had an exhibition of wooden sculpture in the museum, gave a lecture about his works. It was a privilege to have the artist present in order to learn more about his process, his inspiration and the challenges he experienced during the completion of each piece. I admired Romano's fascination and exploration of the human form.
Naturally, I liked Lllegada which depicted a runner crossing the finish line, but my favorite sculpture was Arco. My admiration of this sculpture was enhanced when Romano explained to the audience that the work represented the connection between humans and nature. Can you identify the two ways that the artist demonstrates this metaphor?
After this interesting lecture I explored the rest of the museum. Each room contained a different artist's works with distinct styles. There was the Gomez collection in which a series of artists used the hood of a Porsche as their canvas, an exhibition of iron statues by Néstor Candi, among others. Mi favorite exhibit contained the works by Niccola Costantino. His works combined two materials: photography and painting. I think that the best way to describe her style is if Tim Burton were a painter, then he would be Niccola Costantino. Similar to Burton her works are whimsical, dark and a little creepy.
As I was leaving the museum, I realized that there was a showing of the American film "The Purple Flower of Cairo" by Woody Allen. I love old Hollywood films, so I decided to stay at this museum and watch this classic movie. Without money I received a night of culture in 3 forms: art, lecture and film.
The Dance of Love: Tango
Last Sunday I posted a video to my Facebook that consisted of tango dancers in the plaza. After this experience I wanted to try it myself. My program partner Tanya had discovered that a dance studio offerred tango classes every Thursday 1:30pm-3:00pm. So, we decided to go to the class before our meeting at ICC at 4pm. Although I have danced for 15 years, ballet and jazz are very different from tango. I don't have experience with a partner nor do I have familiarity with the role as follower. I was nervous too because my companion had taken 3 tango classes when she went to Buenos Aires last year, so I was the only student who didn't have experience. In the duration of the class I learned 3 different passes that can be used in combination. I don't understand how a woman can follow the man when there are so many possibilities of passes that include pivots, the crossing of feet and changes in direction, and the dance is improvised. I definitely need to practice more until I can dance with the others in the plaza. In addition to tango classes, the studio has ballet, jazz and musical theatre classes, so I'm excited to return and satisfy my love of dance.
Dentistry: An Art Form All Its Own
The creation of a crown, an implant or a bridge is very similar to the creation of a work of art. The dentist needs to study the form, the curves, the points of contact, the color and the texture of the teeth in order to create something artificial that looks real. Each artist needs specific tools to create their masterpieces. Coincidentally, a block away from my apartment there is a store that sells dental supplies. Obviously I needed to investigate it. I was like a kid in a candy store. It was a magical place! The shelves were full of gloves, resins, adhesives and all dental supplies that a dentist would need. I told the clerk that I was a dental student from the United States and he provided me with catalogs with the prices of supplies and information about different techniques to make dental molds. I can't wait to read the catalogs and compare the materials and the prices of those in the United States. Once again, free art.
